Hydration

It is particularly important to maintain good hydration during the warm months. Babies, especially, can become easily overheated and dehydrated on hot days. It is important to make sure they drink a few extra ounces of breastmilk or formula during very hot days. For infants 6 months to 12 months, 2 -4 oz of water/day will help with hydration. If you see any signs of dehydration in your infant (i.e. no wet diaper after 8 hrs, no tears while crying, lethargy, etc.), call us for further advice. For young children, make sure to keep a water bottle handy and frequently ask if they are thirsty.
